Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, ELCA

Since the organization of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, members have made contributions for a "future building fund". In early 2000, the congregation began actively pursuing the acquisition of land or an improved property for use as a future church home.

In July of 2000, an appeal was made to other ELCA congregations for help for our project. This appeal resulted in contributions from other congregations and individuals nationwide. The contributions were generous and greatly appreciated.

Building on the foundation of our own giving and gifts from other congregations and individuals, Shepherd of the Mountains conducted a capital fund drive.

In October, 2000, a capital fund drive was held. The Lutheran Laity Movement (LLM) was contracted to conduct the fund drive. The drive was kicked off on October 22, 2000, by Judy Rehmel of LLM. The drive lasted for three weeks and culminated in reaching the goal set at the beginning of the drive for a two year commitment from members. The members have been faithful in their pledges and, together with money previously contributed by members and donations from other congregations and individuals, made in response to our July, 2000 appeal, have made possible the land acquisition which was finalized on November 15, 2002.
