Pastor Dan Mangler Leads Dedication Ceremony on November 17, 2002

Members of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church gathered to dedicate the future church site on November 17, 2002. The congregational members stood in the shape of a cross while Pastor Dan conducted a ceremony. The site is on the corner of Dry Gulch Road and Ptarmigan Trail, north of the Sombrero Stables. Closing on the purchase of the land, from the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, was finalized on November 15. Other land owners on this location are Good Samaritan Assisted Living Facility, Estes Park Affordable Housing, and private residences. The church will be built next to the road. This is the result of several years of planning which included annexation of the property as well as rezoning. Congregation members directly involved in this project have worked for months to complete this acquisition. Many more members where actively involved in the annexation and zoning meetings.
